Once again the latest Pro-Am Tournament held at Superbowl brought in
first time bowlers bringing the total to 28 this summer and with one
more event planned it is hoped the club may top 30 new bowlers this
summer.
The event was rescheduled due to the death of Aviva Bautista, wife
of club stalwart Manuel and was played on the evening of Wednesday
21 September.
The event was well supported as always with all rinks in play and a
large crowd of spectators made for an excellent atmosphere.
The tournament was extremely close throughout and going into the
third and final round, three teams were tying for the lead on 12
points, closely followed by teams on 11, 10 and 9.
The team of Dave Townsend and Pat Churchill came through with a
storming finish to win with an excellent total of 24 points and were
presented with their prizes by the new Club Manager Craig Lewis.
The evening ended with players and spectators enjoying curry and
rice.
Winners of all this summers Pro-Am tournaments will be invited to
play in a final tournament on Saturday 1 October, starting at 2pm,
spectators and supporters will be most welcome.
